Thesis Title: Collective adaptation to the threat
Year of Enrollment: 2023
Supervisors: Marie PRÉAU, Tanguy LEROY
Strategies for prevention, protection and adaptation are implemented in a context where various risks and threats to society exist. In June 2021, the President of the Republic presents «France 2030» with the Health 2030 Innovation Plan, aimed at strengthening the country’s resilience to contemporary challenges. In this dynamic, many research projects have emerged, bringing significant advances in terms of knowledge, technologies and intervention strategies, in an interdisciplinary approach.
This thesis project is part of this dynamic in the humanities and social sciences, and more specifically in social psychology, which constitutes its originality and innovation. It focuses on the perception of risk and collective adaptation to threats, focusing on actors directly confronted with these situations, such as firefighters, military personnel, emergency responders or law enforcement. The objective is to better understand how these professionals perceive these risks in order to improve collective coping strategies.
The project is based on three studies. The first aims to describe the perception of threats by these professionals. The second will seek to deepen this understanding, identifying the factors influencing this perception and their implications. Finally, the third study will focus on collective adaptation to risks through the co-construction of a tool based on professionals' needs, facilitating the appropriation of expert knowledge during training. This tool will aim to strengthen representation and preparedness in critical situations, thus contributing to better crisis management and field interventions
