Laurent Gaucher is a dedicated midwife and researcher committed to improving the quality of childbirth care and promoting maternal mental health. With over ten years' experience, he holds a position as Assistant Professor at the Haute Ecole de Santé in Geneva, Switzerland, and as hospital midwife in the birthing room at the Hospices Civils de Lyon's Hôpital Femme Mère Enfant (HFME).
Laurent Gaucher is responsible for several public health teaching modules for midwifery students in initial and continuing training. Holder of an Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches, he supervises several scientific theses in line with his research areas (https://www.theses.fr/138022577).
Administrator of the Collège National des Sages-Femmes de France, he has actively contributed to the development of clinical guidelines for midwives in France, supervised students, conducted randomized controlled trials and obtained funding for innovative research projects. Laurent Gaucher's work bears witness to his passion for advancing the field of maieutics (i.e. the art and science of midwifery).
