Artificial intelligence (AI) is now widespread for critical tasks in healthcare such inpatient care planning, mortality risk assessment or phenotyping. It is also gaining traction for other, non-healthcare related tasks such as law enforcement, the justice system, or job application reviews. Because it has more and more impact on our lives, it becomes essential to make AI-based software that is transparent and fair. This presentation will explain the problems surrounding AI transparency and fairness as well as possible solutions.
