Stakeholder Engagement in Health Behavior Change Research: Approaches and Considerations
Abstract: A key challenge for healthcare systems is the substantial gap between research evidence and routine practice, as emphasised by the World Health Organisation “neglecting implementation challenges costs lives and money?. The need to bridge the research-practice gap has led to increased emphasis by funders and policy makers on implementation and knowledge translation methods and the inclusion of stakeholders, and members of the public, in the conduct of research.
This presentation will describe case-examples of stakeholder engagement at the Health Behaviour Change Research Group at the National University of Ireland, Galway and discuss approaches and considerations for involving stakeholders in research.
Discussant: Alexandra Dima.
